# Set Up ASI:One in Eigent

> Connect Eigent, a free desktop app that works through tasks for you, to your ASI:One models.

## Overview

[Eigent](https://www.eigent.ai) is a free desktop app you hand tasks to. You
describe what you want done, and it works through the steps on your computer.
Connect it to ASI:One and it does that work with ASI:One models.

Some things you can ask it to do:

* Research a topic on the web and summarize what it finds.
* Write, edit and tidy up documents.
* Sort, rename and work with files on your computer.
* Work in apps you connect to it, like Slack, Gmail and Notion.

Setup takes a few minutes and doesn't need any code.

## Setup guide

## What you need

* **Eigent**, downloaded from [eigent.ai](https://www.eigent.ai) and installed.
* **An ASI:One API key.** Create one at [asi1.ai/developer](https://asi1.ai/developer).
It's a long code that starts with `sk_`. Copy it, you'll paste it in shortly.
While you're on that page, check which models you have access to. You'll
  enter one of them below.

## Connect ASI:One

1. Open Eigent. The first time you open it, click **Continue** on each of the
three setup screens until the settings menu appears on the left.
2. If it says **Please select a model**, click **Select a model**. Otherwise,
click **Models** in the settings menu on the left.
3. Scroll down the list of providers and click **OpenAI Compatible**. It's near
the bottom, just above **Local model**.
4. Fill in the three boxes:

   | Box | What to enter |
   | ---------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
   | **API Key Setting** | Your ASI:One API key |
   | **API Host Setting** | `https://api.asi1.ai/v1` |
   | **Model Type Setting** | Check which models you have access to at [asi1.ai/developer](https://asi1.ai/developer). Enter `asi1-ultra` if you have it, otherwise enter `asi1`. |

   Leave **Model Parameters (JSON)** empty.
5. Click **Save**. After a few seconds you'll see **Validate success**, and a
green dot appears next to **OpenAI Compatible**.

> **Info**
>
> You may also see **Google Search not configured**. That's fine to ignore.
> Eigent still works, it just has fewer ways to search the web.

## Make ASI:One the default

Scroll back to the top of the **Models** page. Under **Default setting**, the
dropdown should show **Custom model / OpenAI Compatible**, followed by the model
you entered. If it shows something else, open it and pick that option.

## Try it

1. Click **Untitled Space** at the top of the window, then click **New** in
the left sidebar to start a new task.
2. Under the message box, check that the model reads **OpenAI Compatible**,
followed by the model you entered.
3. Type a first message, for example `Hello, what can you help me with?`, and
   press **Enter**.

Eigent shows what it's working on, then replies. From here, describe any task
in your own words.

## If something goes wrong

| ----------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Please select a model** when you start a task | ASI:One isn't the default yet. Follow [Make ASI:One the default](#make-asione-the-default). |
| **Save** doesn't show **Validate success** | Check that the whole key was pasted, and that the host and model name match the table above exactly, with no extra spaces. |
| **Rate limit exceeded** | If you entered `asi1-ultra`, check that it's one of the models you have access to at [asi1.ai/developer](https://asi1.ai/developer). If it isn't, change **Model Type Setting** to `asi1` and click **Save**, or [upgrade your plan](https://asi1.ai/account-and-settings/subscription). |
| It worked before but now fails | Your key may have been deleted or replaced. Create a new one at [asi1.ai/developer](https://asi1.ai/developer) and paste it into **API Key Setting**. |
