Set Up ASI:One in Eigent

Overview

Eigent is a free desktop app you hand tasks to. You describe what you want done, and it works through the steps on your computer. Connect it to ASI:One and it does that work with ASI:One models.

Some things you can ask it to do:

  • Research a topic on the web and summarize what it finds.
  • Write, edit and tidy up documents.
  • Sort, rename and work with files on your computer.
  • Work in apps you connect to it, like Slack, Gmail and Notion.

Setup takes a few minutes and doesn’t need any code.

What you need

  • Eigent, downloaded from eigent.ai and installed.
  • An ASI:One API key. Create one at asi1.ai/developer. It’s a long code that starts with sk_. Copy it, you’ll paste it in shortly.

Connect ASI:One

  1. Open Eigent. If it says Please select a model, click Select a model. Otherwise, click Models in the left sidebar.

  2. Scroll down the list of providers and click OpenAI Compatible. It’s near the bottom, just above Local model.

  3. Fill in the three boxes:

    Leave Model Parameters (JSON) empty.

  4. Click Save. After a few seconds you’ll see Validate success, and a green dot appears next to OpenAI Compatible.

You may also see Google Search not configured. That’s fine to ignore. Eigent still works, it just has fewer ways to search the web.

Make ASI:One the default

Scroll back to the top of the Models page. Under Default setting, the dropdown should show Custom model / OpenAI Compatible, followed by the model you entered. If it shows something else, open it and pick that option.

Try it

  1. Start a new task by clicking New in the left sidebar.
  2. Under the message box, check that the model reads OpenAI Compatible, followed by the model you entered.
  3. Type a first message, for example Hello, what can you help me with?, and press Enter.

Eigent shows what it’s working on, then replies. From here, describe any task in your own words.

If something goes wrong
